Audio CD (November 2, 1999) Original Release Date: November 2, 1999 Format: Soundtrack Label: Maverick Run Time: 130 minutes Just a couple of days ago I was searching the net for soundtracks and stumbled across the lyrics (WHICH I'VE EMBEDDED IN TRACK 4) to a Smith Classic tune....used throughout many of the ViewAskew Universe films. "Mooby The Golden Calf" is most notably used in Dogma and then the backdrop for Clerks II. Mooby The Golden Calf has his own theme song, a la the "Mickey Mouse Club March," with lyrics suggesting demands of veneration and worship. The anthropomorphic cow, a reference to the Old Testament story of the golden calf that was worshiped as a graven idol, parodies Barney the dinosaur and elements of Disney. According to the Clerks II DVD commentary, Mooby was designed to be, "As close to Mickey Mouse as possible without us getting sued." Also it may be based on the golden cow idol from Judaism which like mobby was gold, a cow, and stole faith from god.
